The 2009 Mazda Tribute Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) is the next step for Mazda in their move towards a "greener" fleet of vehicles. When this "full" hybrid zooms over 25 mph, or when you need a boost of power, the gas engine kicks in and provides you with the power you need.
New and Improved
Mazda's "full" hybrid Tribute is in its first model year. Currently, it closely resembles the Ford Escape, but maybe future models will break this mold.
Standard Features
The standard 155-hp, 2.3-liter, 4-cylinder with electric motor and automatic transmission provides a sensible 30 MPG highway and 34 MPG in the city. It also comes standard with remote keyless entry in addition to power windows and locks.
Optional Features
The 2008 Tribute hybrid offers a high-end entertainment system in addition to superior safety features. The 4WD option gets 27 MPG highway and 29 MPG in city driving. Leather and heated front seats are another creature comfort optional feature on the Tribute.
Why We Like It
Providing great fuel economy and horsepower are definite pluses. At the same time it has standard side-curtain air bags and excellent storage space. There is a lot to like with this Mazda debut.
